The questions that arrive most often, answered properly. For anything about one specific release, the questions section on that listing is more useful.

General questions

Do I need an account to download anything?

No. There is no account system on this site at all. Nothing here is behind a registration step, a membership tier or a waiting period.

Why does my antivirus flag these files?

Anything that alters how a program checks its licence is classified as a risk tool by every scanning engine. The classification describes the behaviour of the file, not a judgement about a specific build. That is why most listings ask you to pause protection during installation.

The archive will not extract. What now?

Check the size of what you downloaded against the size on the listing. A truncated file extracts partially and then fails, which looks like a broken archive but is a broken download. Download it again, preferably over the mirror the listing recommends for that size.

Are archives password protected?

No. Nothing in this library uses an archive password. If something asks you for one, it did not come from here.

Which mirror should I use?

For anything under a gigabyte, either direct server. For very large packages the magnet link is more reliable because it resumes properly and verifies as it goes.

How current is a listing?

Each one carries a relative update time. Anything measured in hours or days is a current build. Anything measured in weeks is still the current release of that software, it just has not needed repacking.

Can I ask for something that is not listed?

Yes, and that is where most of the library came from. Put it on the requests page with the version you need and it goes into the queue.

Do the download counts mean anything?

They are lifetime totals per listing. The bar next to each one scales against the busiest release in the library, so most entries look small next to the top few. That is accurate rather than flattering.

Will these builds update themselves?

Most have their updaters disabled, because an update replaces the modified components and undoes the state. Where that matters, the listing says so in the release notes.

Something on a listing is wrong. Who do I tell?

The contact page. Wrong version numbers, wrong file sizes and steps that do not work are all worth reporting, and they get fixed.

Try the installation guide for anything that goes wrong during setup, or send it through the contact page. Include the listing name and the point where it stopped.
