Privacy
What is collected, what is not, and how long anything is kept.
The short version
There is no account system, so there is no profile to build. The site does not sell data, does not run third party advertising trackers, and does not follow you between sites. What is collected is the minimum needed to keep the site running and to answer the messages people send.
What is collected automatically
Standard server request logs are recorded: the requested address, the time of the request, the response code, the referring address if the browser sent one, and the browser identification string. These are used to diagnose faults and to see which listings are being used. They are not linked to an identity.
Log entries are retained for a limited operational period and then discarded. They are not shared with anyone except where a legal obligation requires it.
What you send deliberately
Three forms on this site send data to the server: the contact form, the software request form and the DMCA notice form. Each writes to its own record file on the server.
- Contact form. The name, email address, subject and message you enter, plus the time of submission. Used only to answer you.
- Request form. The title, version, platform and any notes you provide, plus an optional email address if you want to be told when it is listed.
- DMCA form. The identifying and contact information a notice legally requires, retained as a record of the complaint and its handling.
Nothing entered into these forms is used for marketing, added to a mailing list, or passed to a third party.
Search
The search field on this site sends what you type to this site's own interface and nothing else. It is not passed to an external search provider, it is not stored against you, and it never appears in the address bar.
Cookies
No tracking or advertising cookies are set. The site does not need a cookie to function and does not use one to identify returning visitors.
Third parties
The pages on this site load their stylesheet and script from this site. No external analytics service, advertising network, font service or content delivery network is involved in serving a page here, which means no third party sees your request.
Retention
Form submissions are kept as long as they are useful for handling the matter they relate to, and longer for DMCA notices because a record of a complaint and its resolution has to be retained. Everything else is discarded on the operational schedule.
Your requests
To ask what has been recorded about a message you sent, or to have a submission deleted, write through the contact page from the same address you used originally so the request can be matched to the record.
Changes
Any change to this policy is published on this page. There is no mailing list to notify, so the current version here is always the operative one.
