About this release
Overview
Dreamweaver puts a full code editor and a visual layout view side by side, with a live preview between them, so a page can be built by typing markup, by working visually, or by moving between the two as suits the moment. Change the code and the preview updates as you type. Nudge something in the visual view and the code reflects it. For someone who wants the control of hand written markup without giving up a live picture of the result, that split is the whole idea.
The editor is a proper one. Syntax highlighting and code completion for the common web languages, an emmet style abbreviation expansion for writing markup quickly, error flagging, and a linting pass that catches problems before they reach a browser. It handles the templating and preprocessor languages a modern site uses, and it previews against real browser rendering rather than an approximation.
Around the editing sits the site management that separates it from a plain text editor. Define a site and it tracks every page, asset and link as a set, so moving or renaming a file updates the references to it across the whole project rather than leaving broken links. Built in file transfer publishes changes to a server directly, and a templates and library system keeps shared page elements consistent across a site of many pages.
