About this release

Overview

Office 2019 Professional Plus is the version people install when they want the applications to stay exactly as they are. There is no feature channel rolling underneath it, no interface that rearranges itself between quarters, and no account requirement. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Publisher and OneNote install together and behave identically on day one and three years later.

Excel in this release covers the modern function set that matters in practice: dynamic arrays behaviour through the legacy paths, the full Power Query and Power Pivot stack, data model relationships, and the chart types added over the previous cycle including funnel and map charts. For anyone maintaining large workbooks with existing macros, this is the target that keeps VBA behaviour stable.

The package includes both architectures. The 64-bit build is the right choice for large Excel models and for machines with plenty of memory, and the 32-bit build remains the safer option where old ActiveX controls or a legacy database driver has to keep working. The installer lets you choose at setup time and installs only the applications you tick.

What it does

Feature breakdown

Complete professional application set

Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Publisher and OneNote, with the desktop database and layout tools that consumer editions exclude.

Perpetual behaviour

No feature updates change the interface underneath you. Security patching is separate from feature delivery, so a workflow built today still works next year.

Power Query and Power Pivot

Pull data from files, folders, databases and web sources, shape it in the query editor, and load it to a data model with relationships and measures.

Full VBA and macro support

The complete Visual Basic editor with the object model intact, which matters for anyone carrying forward an inherited workbook or document template.

Outlook with full mail handling

Exchange, IMAP and POP accounts, rules, delegate access, offline cached mode and PST management, all without a subscription check.

Language pack selection at install

Pick your interface and proofing languages during setup rather than downloading them separately afterwards.

Changed in this build

Version 16.0.10416.20007

  • Configuration file preset for a silent install with a chosen application subset.
  • Both architectures now share a single archive rather than two separate downloads.
  • Activation step folded into the installer, so no separate tool run is required afterwards.
  • Updated proofing tools for several additional languages.
  • Cleaned up shortcut creation so the Start menu group matches the applications you actually selected.

Installation

Follow these in order

  1. Remove any existing Office installation completely, including Click-to-Run leftovers.
  2. Disconnect from the network.
  3. Extract the archive and open the folder for the architecture you want.
  4. Disable real time protection.
  5. Run the setup executable as administrator and select the applications and languages you want.
  6. Open Word once and check the account page shows an activated product, then re-enable protection.
Expect a detection. Anything that changes how a program checks its licence is classified as a risk tool by every scanning engine, which is why the steps ask you to pause protection. If that is not something you want to do, this is not the right download for you.

Release notes

From whoever packed it

  • Do not mix architectures. A 32-bit Office and a 64-bit Office cannot coexist on the same machine.
  • Leave automatic updates off. A feature update from the servicing channel undoes the activation state.
  • If Access refuses to open older databases, install the compatibility components included in the extras folder.

Questions about this release

Answered before you ask

Which architecture should I choose?
64-bit unless you rely on a legacy add-in or driver that is 32-bit only. Large Excel models need the 64-bit build.
Does Outlook work with a normal mail account?
Yes, IMAP and POP accounts configure exactly as they do in any other Office release.
Can I install just Word and Excel?
Yes, deselect everything else on the customise screen during setup.
