About this release

Overview

This is the release people keep because it never expires and never changes. The full module set is here: library for importing, sorting and keywording, develop for raw processing, map for geotagged work, book for photobook layout, slideshow, print with proper soft proofing, and web. It installs on hardware and systems that the current catalogue application refuses, and it starts faster than any version released since.

The develop module is entirely non destructive in the same way as the later versions. Every adjustment is stored as an instruction against the file rather than written into it, so the original raw data is never touched and any edit can be reversed years later. Basic tone, tone curve, HSL, split toning, detail, lens corrections, transform, effects and camera calibration are all present, with the graduated, radial and brush adjustments for local work.

The catalogue behaves exactly as expected: images stay in your own folders on your own drives, and the catalogue file holds previews, metadata, collections, virtual copies and the full edit history. Nothing syncs anywhere, nothing uploads, and the catalogue moves between machines by copying three things in the same relative structure. For a photographer who wants the workflow without the subscription, this remains the endpoint.

What it does

Feature breakdown

Full module set

Library, develop, map, book, slideshow, print and web, all included in the standalone application with no component held back.

Non destructive raw processing

Edits stored as instructions against the original file, fully reversible, with a complete history list per image.

Local adjustments

Graduated filter, radial filter and adjustment brush with auto masking, for the selective work that predates the later masking engine.

Catalogue library management

Folders, collections, smart collections, keywords, flags, ratings and colour labels, with previews that stay available when the drive is disconnected.

Print module with soft proofing

Full layout control, contact sheets, print sharpening by paper type and soft proofing against an output profile.

Export presets and plugins

Sizing, colour space, output sharpening, watermarking and metadata handling saved as presets, with the export plugin interface intact.

Changed in this build

Version 6.5.0

  • Final maintenance build with the last set of camera and lens profiles added for bodies released in that period.
  • Improved catalogue upgrade path from the older versions, with fewer stalls on very large libraries.
  • Performance fixes for brush responsiveness on high resolution displays.
  • Corrected several export preset behaviours around metadata stripping.
  • Stability improvements in the book and print modules on multi monitor setups.

Installation

Follow these in order

  1. Back up any existing catalogue before installing.
  2. Go offline.
  3. Extract the archive.
  4. Disable real time protection.
  5. Run setup as administrator and complete the install.
  6. Open the application, create or open a catalogue, then restore protection.
Expect a detection. Anything that changes how a program checks its licence is classified as a risk tool by every scanning engine, which is why the steps ask you to pause protection. If that is not something you want to do, this is not the right download for you.

Release notes

From whoever packed it

  • Raw support ends with the camera bodies of its period. A newer camera will need its files converted to a universal raw format first.
  • Catalogue upgrades are one way. Once opened in a newer version, this release can no longer read the catalogue.
  • There is no cloud component at all in this release, which is the reason most people choose it.

Questions about this release

Answered before you ask

Will it read my new camera's raw files?
Probably not. Convert them to a universal raw format with a free converter first and it will handle those normally.
Is it the same as the current classic version?
The workflow is the same. The newer version has the AI masking, better denoise and current camera support.
Does it expire?
No. It is a perpetual release with no subscription behind it.
