About this release
Overview
Capture One is the raw processor that studio and commercial photographers reach for, and the reason is colour. Every supported camera has a bespoke profile built for it rather than a generic interpretation, and the colour editor lets you isolate a specific range and move it without dragging the neighbouring tones with it. On skin, on product colour and on brand critical work, that difference is the entire argument.
Tethering is the other half. Shooting straight into the application with a live histogram and focus check, overlay compositing against a supplied layout so the art director can see the crop before the shot is approved, capture pilot for a second screen or tablet on set, and automatic naming, folder placement and adjustment application on every frame as it lands. A shoot that produces four hundred frames arrives already sorted.
The structure of the software reflects that workflow. Sessions for a single job with capture, selects, output and trash folders, or catalogues for a long running library, and you can move between the two. Adjustments are layer based with masks, gradients, luma range restriction and brushes, healing and cloning are on their own layers, and styles apply to a selection in one action. The enterprise capabilities add scripting, watermark automation and controlled output presets for a team working to a fixed specification.
What it does
Feature breakdown
Per-camera colour profiles
Bespoke profiles for each supported body rather than a generic raw interpretation, which is why the starting point needs less correction.
Advanced colour editor
Isolate a narrow hue, saturation and lightness range and move it independently, with a uniformity tool for matching skin across a set.
Tethered capture
Shoot directly into the application with live view, focus check, overlay compositing to a supplied layout and automatic naming and adjustment on arrival.
Layer based local adjustments
Masks, gradients, luma range restriction, brushes, healing and cloning on independent layers with per-layer opacity.
Sessions and catalogues
A session per job with capture, selects and output folders, or a catalogue for a long running library, with material movable between the two.
Process recipes
Multiple output specifications applied in one pass, each with its own size, format, sharpening, colour space, naming and watermark.

Questions about this release
Answered before you ask
- Does it read files from my camera?
- Almost certainly, unless the body is very new. Profile support for new releases arrives in later builds.
- Is tethering included?
- Yes, full tethered capture with live view and overlay is part of this build.
- Can I import a Lightroom catalogue?
- There is an importer that brings across images, ratings and basic metadata. Develop settings do not translate.
