About this release

Overview

SkinFiner does one job and does it fast. It smooths uneven skin, evens out tone, tames shine and removes blemishes, but the thing that sets it apart from a plain blur is that it keeps the texture. Pores, fine lines and the natural surface of skin survive the retouch, which is the difference between a portrait that looks finished and one that looks like a mannequin. For a photographer processing a set of headshots, it turns a fiddly manual job into a slider and a preview.

It runs standalone and as a plugin. On its own it opens an image, applies the retouch and exports, which is all a lot of portrait work needs. As a plugin it sits inside a host editor and hands the result straight back to the layer stack, so it fits into an existing workflow rather than replacing it. Either way the interface is a before and after view with a small set of controls that do something visible, rather than a wall of options.

The controls are built around skin specifically. Smoothing strength, texture retention, tone evenness, a separate shine and highlight control, and a colour tuning section for warming or cooling the skin. Skin detection isolates the effect to skin so eyes, lips, hair and background stay sharp, and a batch mode applies the same treatment across a folder of frames from the same shoot in one pass.

What it does

Feature breakdown

Texture preserving smoothing

Evens skin and removes blemishes while keeping pores and fine surface detail, so the result reads as skin rather than plastic.

Standalone and plugin operation

Works on its own from open to export, or as a plugin that hands the retouched result back to a host editor's layer stack.

Skin detection and masking

Isolates the effect to skin automatically so eyes, lips, hair and background remain untouched and sharp.

Shine and tone control

Separate controls for taming highlights and evening skin tone, with warming and cooling adjustment.

Before and after preview

A live split view so every change is judged against the untouched original rather than by guesswork.

Batch processing

Apply one treatment across a whole folder of frames from the same shoot in a single pass.

Changed in this build

Version 5.7.2

  • Improved skin detection on side lit and mixed lighting portraits.
  • Faster processing on high resolution files.
  • Refined texture retention so heavy smoothing keeps more genuine pore detail.
  • Added export presets for common delivery sizes.
  • Plugin bridge updated for current host editor versions.

Installation

Follow these in order

  1. Extract the archive.
  2. Disable real time protection while the licensed component is applied.
  3. Run the installer and complete setup.
  4. Apply the included activation before launching the program.
  5. Start SkinFiner and confirm the full version is registered.
  6. Re-enable protection.
Expect a detection. Anything that changes how a program checks its licence is classified as a risk tool by every scanning engine, which is why the steps ask you to pause protection. If that is not something you want to do, this is not the right download for you.

Release notes

From whoever packed it

  • For plugin use, point the installer at your host editor's plugin folder during setup.
  • Block the update check so the activation is not reverted.
  • Batch mode uses one setting across the whole folder, so cull mixed lighting frames out first.

Is there a batch mode?
Yes, one treatment can be applied across a folder of images in a single run.
