Skylum Luminar Neo
Version 1.28.0.17626 · Skylum · Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) · ranked #131 in the library
A photo editor that leans on trained tools to do the heavy lifting, relighting a scene, swapping a flat sky or cleaning up power lines from a single slider, aimed at getting a strong result without a long manual retouch.

About this release
Overview
Luminar Neo is built around the idea that most of the manual retouching a photograph needs can be handled by a tool that understands what it is looking at. Rather than building a mask, painting a dodge and burn and cloning out distractions by hand, you reach for a control that knows the difference between sky, skin, foliage and structure and applies the change where it belongs. For a photographer who wants a finished frame quickly, that shifts the work from technique to judgement.
The signature tools are the ones that would each be a session of manual work elsewhere. Relighting adjusts the light in a scene by depth, brightening a foreground subject without blowing the background. Sky replacement swaps a flat grey sky for a dramatic one and relights the scene to match, including reflections in water. Structure and detail enhancement, skin and portrait tools, and a distraction removal that erases power lines, dust spots and stray objects all run from a slider rather than a toolbox.
It works as a standalone editor and as a plugin into a host editor or a catalogue application, so it fits whether it is the whole workflow or one creative step in a larger one. Edits are held as a stack of adjustments that stay re-editable, presets bundle a whole look into one click, and batch processing applies a treatment across a set of frames. It reads raw files from current cameras and exports to the usual delivery formats.

Questions about this release
Answered before you ask
- Do the AI tools work offline?
- Yes, the models are bundled in this build, so relighting, sky replacement and the rest run without a connection.
- Can I use it as a plugin?
- Yes, it installs as a plugin into a host editor or catalogue application, as well as running standalone.
- Does it read my camera's raw files?
- If the body is not brand new, yes. Very recent releases may need a profile from a later build.
