About this release
Overview
This is a reduced build of the professional edition, put together for machines that struggle with the full system. The optional features, the bundled store applications, the telemetry and background services, and the components most people on an old machine never touch have been removed, which leaves a system that installs onto a smaller disk, boots faster and leaves more of a limited amount of memory free for whatever the machine is actually meant to do.
The trade is deliberate and worth understanding. A lite build gives up some flexibility for speed and footprint. Things that were taken out to make it small are not there to be turned back on later, so it suits a machine with a fixed job, an old laptop kept for one program, a shop floor terminal, a media box, rather than a general purpose computer someone will want to do everything on. Within that scope it is noticeably more responsive than the full system on the same hardware.
It keeps the parts that matter for using it: the desktop, the core system, driver support and the essential settings. It is preactivated, boots on both UEFI and legacy systems, and includes a recovery path. This is an English build aimed at getting an old machine back to being usable rather than at covering every possible use.

Installation
Follow these in order
- Back up the target machine first. A clean install erases the system drive.
- Write the ISO to a USB stick of 8 GB or larger.
- Boot from the stick through the firmware boot menu.
- Choose custom install and select the target partition.
- Delete the old partitions for a clean install if you want the smallest footprint.
- Complete setup, choosing the offline account option.

From whoever packed it
- This is a fixed purpose build. Components removed to make it small cannot simply be added back later.
- Verify the checksum before writing. A bad download fails partway through setup.
- Suited to a machine with a defined job rather than a general purpose computer.

- Can I add back the removed features?
- Not easily. A lite build gives up that flexibility for size and speed, so it suits a machine with a fixed job.
- Is it activated?
- Yes, activation is applied in the image.
- Will my programs run on it?
- Ordinary desktop programs run normally. Anything that depends on a removed component will not.
