Ant Download Manager
Version 2.17.7.96580 · AntGroup · Windows 7 / 8 / 10 / 11 (32-bit and 64-bit) · ranked #216 in the library
A download manager that takes over from the browser entirely, splitting files across parallel connections and quietly catching the video streams on pages where a right click gets you nowhere.

About this release
Overview
Ant Download Manager sits between the browser and the network. Once the extension is in place, clicking a link hands it to the manager instead of the browser's own downloader, which means the transfer is split into multiple connections, resumes cleanly after an interruption, and survives a browser restart. On a connection where a single stream never reaches the line rate, that is the whole point of the exercise.
The video capture side is what separates it from a generic accelerator. When a page plays a segmented stream, the manager detects it and offers the available renditions as a download, assembling the segments into a single file. Playlists are handled in bulk, and the download panel that appears over recognised players lets you pick quality without leaving the page. Audio only extraction is available at the same point for anything where you only want the sound.
Around that sits the ordinary management layer: a queue with priorities, category based folders so archives, video and documents land in the right place automatically, bandwidth scheduling so overnight transfers do not compete with working hours, and checksum verification on completion. It integrates with Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera, Brave and Vivaldi through a native extension rather than by intercepting traffic at the system level, which keeps it out of the way of everything else on the machine.
What it does
Feature breakdown
Parallel connection downloading
Each file is split into segments fetched simultaneously and joined at the end, with automatic resume from the last good byte after a dropped connection.
Stream detection and capture
Segmented video streams on ordinary web pages are recognised and offered as downloadable files at every rendition the page exposes.
Deep browser integration
A native extension for the major browsers hands off links, batch selections and page media, with an override key for anything you would rather the browser handled itself.
Queue, categories and scheduling
Priority ordering, automatic sorting into folders by file type, bandwidth limits by time of day, and a queue that can start and stop on a schedule.
Torrent support
Magnet links and torrent files are handled in the same interface as direct downloads, so one queue covers both.
Verification and post-processing
Checksum comparison on completion, optional virus scanner handoff, and configurable actions when the queue empties.
Changed in this build
Version 2.17.7.96580
- Updated stream detection for several sites that recently changed their manifest format.
- Extension rewritten against the current browser extension platform for Chromium based browsers.
- Added per-category default connection counts rather than one global setting.
- Reduced disk fragmentation on large multi-segment downloads by preallocating the output file.
- Fixed a rare failure joining segments when the destination drive filled during the transfer.
Installation
Follow these in order
- Close every browser before installing so the extension registers on next launch.
- Extract the archive and pause real time protection.
- Run setup as administrator and pick the browsers you want integrated.
- Apply the included activation before the first launch.
- Start the manager, open a browser, and confirm the extension is enabled in its extension list.
- Restore protection and set your download folders per category.
Release notes
From whoever packed it
- If the extension shows as installed but nothing is intercepted, enable it manually in the browser's extension page once.
- The update check is disabled in this build. An update replaces the patched executable and loses activation.
- Very high connection counts against a single host can get the transfer throttled. Eight to sixteen is the useful range.

|---|---|
| Processor | Any dual core processor |

Questions about this release
Answered before you ask
- Does it replace the browser downloader completely?
- Yes once integrated, with a modifier key held at click time to let the browser handle something itself.
- Can it handle torrents?
- Yes, magnet links and torrent files sit in the same queue as direct downloads.
- Why did a video capture fail on one site?
- Sites change stream formats often. Detection rules in this build are current at release and older builds fall behind.
