Red Giant Magic Bullet Suite
Version 2025.0 · Maxon Computer GmbH · Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) · ranked #101 in the library
A grading and film look collection that gets a shot to a finished appearance quickly, with colour tools, skin retouching, grain, halation and lens artefacts that read as photographed rather than filtered.

About this release
Overview
Magic Bullet is a set of tools aimed at the part of the job between a correct image and a good looking one. Looks is the centrepiece: a full grading environment presented as a virtual camera pipeline with subject, matte, lens, camera and post stages, each holding tools you drag in and reorder. You are effectively building the optical path that would have produced the image, which is why the results tend to hold together better than a stack of unrelated filters.
Around it sit the specialists. Colorista handles primary and secondary correction with proper wheels, curves and keyers when you want to grade rather than apply a look. Mojo produces the modern high contrast teal and orange treatment in a couple of controls. Cosmo cleans up skin without turning a face to plastic. Denoiser removes sensor noise while holding detail. Film covers stock emulation with grain and halation, and the lens artefact tools add flares, chromatic aberration and vignetting with sensible defaults.
Everything installs into the hosts you already use, so the same look applied in After Effects survives being opened in Premiere Pro on the next machine. The render path is GPU accelerated across the suite, which matters because grading is something you judge while dragging a control rather than after a render. Presets travel with the project, and a custom look can be saved and shared so a series keeps a consistent treatment across episodes.
What it does
Feature breakdown
Looks grading environment
A staged pipeline of subject, matte, lens, camera and post tools that you build and reorder, with a large library of finished starting points.
Colorista primary and secondary correction
Wheels, curves, hue and saturation keying and masks for shot matching and proper corrective grading rather than stylisation.
Cosmo skin retouching
Even out and smooth skin tones while keeping eye, lip and hair detail sharp, with automatic face detection driving the mask.
Denoiser
Remove sensor noise from high ISO footage with temporal and spatial passes that hold on to texture instead of smearing it.
Film stock emulation with grain and halation
Stock profiles, real grain structure and halation around highlights, which is what separates a film look from a colour preset.
Lens artefact tools
Flares, chromatic aberration, vignetting and diffusion applied with physically sensible defaults so they read as optical rather than added.
Changed in this build
Version 2025.0
- New look presets added covering contemporary streaming grades.
- Denoiser temporal pass rewritten for fewer ghosting artefacts on fast motion.
- GPU acceleration extended to the remaining CPU bound tools in the suite.
- Cosmo face detection improved on profile angles and partially occluded faces.
- Preset browser now previews on the actual frame under the playhead rather than a thumbnail.
Installation
Follow these in order
- Install your host applications and launch each once before running this setup.
- Close every host application.
- Extract the archive and disable real time protection.
- Run setup as administrator and select the hosts to install into.
- Apply the included licence component after the files are copied.
- Open a host, confirm the tools appear in the effect list, then restore protection.
Release notes
From whoever packed it
- The preset library is shared across hosts. Do not move its folder or the browser comes up empty.
- Block the updater. An update replaces the licensed components across every host.
- Render nodes need the licence component installed as well as the plugins.

Questions about this release
Answered before you ask
- Does it install into Resolve?
- Yes, through the OFX plugin path.
- Can I save my own looks?
- Yes, custom looks save to the shared library and can be copied to another machine.
- Is it GPU only?
- The tools prefer the GPU but fall back to CPU rendering, which is slower and produces the same result.
