Autodesk AutoCAD 2027
Version 2027.1 · Autodesk Inc. · Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) · ranked #16 in the library
The drafting standard that every consultant, contractor and fabricator can open, covering precise 2D documentation and enough 3D modelling to resolve a detail before it reaches the shop floor.

About this release
Overview
AutoCAD is the common language of technical drawing. Its value is partly the tooling and mostly the format: a DWG opens on any desk in the chain, from the architect to the steel fabricator to the council reviewing the submission. Everything else in the drafting world is measured by how faithfully it reads and writes that file.
The drafting environment is built around precision. Object snaps, polar and object tracking, dynamic input, coordinate entry, constraints and parametric relationships mean geometry lands exactly where the numbers say. Layers, layer states and filters keep a busy drawing legible, blocks with attributes carry data through the model, external references keep a large project split into manageable files, and sheet sets turn a folder of drawings into a coordinated issue.
Annotation is where a drawing becomes a document. Annotative scaling keeps text and dimensions readable at every viewport scale, multileaders and dimension styles enforce office standards, tables link to block attributes and to external data, and the layout and plotting system with page setups and plot styles produces a consistent set every time. The 3D side handles solids, surfaces and meshes with sectioning and visual styles for the cases where a 2D detail is not enough.
What it does
Feature breakdown
Precision drafting tools
Object snaps, tracking, dynamic input and parametric constraints, so geometry is exact rather than approximately right.
Blocks, attributes and dynamic blocks
Reusable components with parameters, visibility states and attached data that flows into schedules and tables.
External references and sheet sets
Split a project across files that update when their source changes, and manage a whole drawing issue as a single coordinated set.
Annotative scaling
Text, dimensions, hatches and leaders that display correctly at every viewport scale without maintaining duplicate annotation.
Layouts, page setups and plot styles
A repeatable path from model geometry to a plotted or PDF sheet that matches office standards every time.
3D solids and surfaces
Extrude, revolve, sweep, loft, boolean operations, sectioning and visual styles for resolving three dimensional detail in the same file.
Changed in this build
Version 2027.1
- Faster open and regeneration on drawings with heavy external reference trees.
- Markup import comparison improved for scanned and photographed redlines.
- Smart blocks placement suggests position based on how the block has been used elsewhere in the drawing.
- Trace workflow refined so a reviewer can comment without altering the underlying drawing.
- Improved PDF import fidelity for line weights, hatches and embedded fonts.
Installation
Follow these in order
- Disconnect from the network before starting.
- Extract the archive to a local drive with plenty of space.
- Disable real time protection for the whole process.
- Run setup as administrator and select your language and any additional toolsets.
- Let the install finish completely and close the installer.
- Launch AutoCAD, confirm it opens straight to the drawing environment with no sign-in, then re-enable protection.
Release notes
From whoever packed it
- The licensing service is neutralised rather than removed. Do not let it update.
- Install any specialised toolset you need during setup. Adding one later means running setup again.
- Custom CUI files, lisp routines and plot styles from a previous version need to be migrated manually.

Questions about this release
Answered before you ask
- Does it save to older DWG formats?
- Yes, Save As offers every legacy format back through several releases.
- Are the industry toolsets included?
- The general drafting environment is included. Toolset availability depends on the components you select at setup.
- Will it work without a network?
- Yes, it runs fully offline and does not check anything on startup.
