SketchUp Pro 2026
Version 26.2.243 · Trimble Inc. · Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) · ranked #18 in the library
Push-pull modelling that stays as fast as sketching, with a documentation companion for turning the model into drawings and an extension ecosystem that covers everything the core does not.
Read the installation section below before you start. The order of the steps matters on this release.
About this release
Overview
SketchUp models with faces and edges rather than parametric history, and the push-pull tool is the whole idea: draw a rectangle, push it into a box, and keep going. That directness is why it took over early design work in architecture, interiors and joinery. You can get a massing study or a room layout into three dimensions in the time it takes to set up a template elsewhere.
Groups and components keep a model organised. A component placed twenty times updates everywhere when you edit one instance, which is how doors, windows, fixtures and repeated structure stay consistent. Tags control visibility, scenes save camera positions with tag states for presenting, section planes cut through the model live, and styles change the whole rendering treatment from technical linework to something that reads as a sketch.
SketchUp Pro is the paid tier and this is that build. It adds LayOut for producing dimensioned drawing sheets from the model with live viewports that update when the model changes, Style Builder for making your own line styles, solid modelling boolean tools, and the full set of import and export formats including DWG, DXF, IFC, OBJ, FBX, STL and 3DS, which is what makes it usable in a real project chain.
What it does
Feature breakdown
Push-pull direct modelling
Draw a face, push it into volume, keep editing. Inference snapping keeps geometry aligned without constraints to manage.
Components and tags
Reusable instances that update everywhere at once, with tag based visibility control and scene states for presenting.
LayOut documentation
Produce dimensioned sheets from live model viewports that update when the model does, with title blocks, scales and annotation.
Solid tools
Union, subtract, intersect, trim and split on solid groups, which makes cutting openings and resolving intersections quick.
Extension warehouse ecosystem
Thousands of extensions covering rendering, structure, terrain, energy, quantities and fabrication, installed from within the application.
Wide format import and export
DWG, DXF, IFC, OBJ, FBX, STL, 3DS, DAE and image formats in both directions, which keeps it usable inside a mixed toolchain.
Changed in this build
Version 26.2.243
- Faster viewport performance on models with high polygon counts and many components.
- Revit importer improved for wall, door and window geometry fidelity.
- LayOut viewport rendering rebuilt, cutting sheet update time on large drawing sets.
- New overlays framework letting extensions draw into the viewport without modifying geometry.
- Improved handling of very large imported terrain meshes.
Installation
Follow these in order
- Go offline before running the installer.
- Extract the archive.
- Disable real time protection.
- Run setup as administrator and install both SketchUp and LayOut.
- Do not launch from the finish screen, close the installer first.
- Open SketchUp, pick a template, then re-enable protection.
Release notes
From whoever packed it
- Extensions from a previous version need reinstalling. The extension folder is version specific.
- OpenGL support in the graphics driver matters more than raw GPU power. Update the driver first.
- LayOut files reference the model by path. Keep the model and sheet files together when moving a project.
System requirements
Minimum and recommended
| Operating system | Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit |
|---|---|
| Processor | 2.1 GHz or faster, higher single core clock matters more than core count |
| Memory | 8 GB minimum, 16 GB recommended |
| Graphics | GPU with 1 GB VRAM and OpenGL 3.1 support, discrete card recommended |
| Storage | 1 GB for the application plus space for models and extensions |
Questions about this release
Answered before you ask
- Is LayOut included?
- Yes, LayOut and Style Builder both install with the Pro build.
- Can it export to DWG?
- Yes, both 2D and 3D DWG export are available in the Pro build.
- Do extensions still install from within the app?
- The extension manager works for local RBZ files. Warehouse browsing needs a connection.
