Autodesk Revit 2027

Version 2027.2 · Autodesk Inc. · Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) · ranked #22 in the library

About this release

Overview

Revit models a building out of real components. A wall knows its construction layers, a door knows the wall it sits in, a room knows its boundaries and its area. Every drawing is a view of that single model, which means a change made in a section appears in the plan, the elevation, the schedule and the sheet immediately. Coordination stops being a manual checking exercise and becomes a property of the file.

The disciplines are all in one application. Architecture handles walls, floors, roofs, stairs, railings and curtain systems. Structure covers framing, columns, foundations and reinforcement with analytical models for export to analysis packages. Systems covers ducts, pipes, cable trays and conduit with connected networks that carry flow and sizing data. Worksharing lets a team work in the same model at once through a central file.

Schedules and families are where the real leverage sits. A schedule is a live view of model data that can be edited in either direction, so a door schedule is not a separate document to maintain. The family editor builds parametric components with your own parameters and constraints, which is how an office builds a library that matches how it actually details buildings rather than fighting the defaults.

What it does

Feature breakdown

Coordinated model based documentation

Plans, sections, elevations, details, schedules and sheets are all views of one model, so nothing goes out of sync.

Multi-discipline modelling

Architecture, structure and building systems in a single environment with shared coordinates and copy monitor for linked models.

Parametric family editor

Build components with your own parameters, constraints, types and visibility rules, and reuse them across every project.

Live schedules

Quantities, areas, doors, windows, equipment and materials as editable views of model data, updating as the model changes.

Worksharing

Multiple people in one model through a central file, with element ownership, synchronisation and editing requests.

Clash detection and interference checking

Find where systems run through structure before it becomes a site problem, across linked models as well as within one.

Changed in this build

Version 2027.2

  • Faster model open and view switching on large multi-discipline projects.
  • Improved toposolid tooling for site modelling with better subdivision and material handling.
  • Sketch based editing rebuilt with clearer constraint feedback while drawing.
  • Schedules now support more conditional formatting and calculated parameter types.
  • Reduced file growth on models that have been through many synchronisation cycles.

Installation

Follow these in order

  1. Go offline before starting. The installer is large and will try to reach out repeatedly.
  2. Extract the archive to a drive with at least 40 GB free.
  3. Disable real time protection for the whole process.
  4. Run setup as administrator and select the content libraries for your region.
  5. Wait for the install to complete, it takes a while, and close the installer.
  6. Launch Revit, confirm it opens without a licensing prompt, then re-enable protection.
Expect a detection. Anything that changes how a program checks its licence is classified as a risk tool by every scanning engine, which is why the steps ask you to pause protection. If that is not something you want to do, this is not the right download for you.

Release notes

From whoever packed it

  • Regional content libraries are optional but a model built without them will use generic families.
  • Models saved in this version cannot be opened in an earlier one. There is no downgrade path.
  • Disable the licensing service from starting automatically if you also have other Autodesk products installed.

Questions about this release

Answered before you ask

Can it open models from an older Revit?
Yes, and it upgrades them on open. The upgrade is one way, so keep a copy of the original.
Does it link to AutoCAD drawings?
Yes, DWG files link and update, and Revit views export back to DWG for consultants.
Is IFC export included?
Yes, IFC import and export are built in for exchange with other BIM packages.
