About this release
Overview
Dimension exists for designers who need a photoreal render of a product and do not want to learn a full three dimensional application to get one. You import a model, drop it into a scene, choose a background photograph, apply materials from a library, and the application derives lighting direction, intensity and colour from the background image so the object sits in the scene convincingly without manual light placement.
Packaging work is where it earns its place. A flat artwork file maps onto a box, bottle, can, pouch or label with the geometry already built, so a label design becomes a photographed looking bottle in minutes rather than being mocked up by hand in a raster editor. Because the artwork stays linked, a revision to the flat file updates the render without rebuilding the scene, which matters when a client is on the fourth round of label changes.
The render output is not a flat image only. Renders can be produced as a layered document with the object, background, shadow, reflection and material passes separated, so final adjustment happens in a raster editor without re-rendering. Camera framing, depth of field, and material properties including roughness, metallic response, translucency and coatings are all controllable, and imported models come in from the common interchange formats used by product designers.

Installation
Follow these in order
- Disconnect from the network before running setup.
- Extract the archive to a drive with at least 15 GB free.
- Pause real time protection until the install and activation are complete.
- Run setup as administrator and choose your language.
- Close the installer at the end rather than launching from the final screen.
- Open the application once so the materials library indexes, then restore protection.
Release notes
From whoever packed it
- The materials and starter asset library is included in the archive rather than fetched on first run.
- Creative Cloud desktop is not required and is not installed. Nothing runs at startup.
- GPU rendering is used automatically where supported. Processor rendering is the fallback and is considerably slower.

Answered before you ask
- Is it a modelling application?
- No. It places and renders existing models. Modelling happens upstream in a dedicated application.
- Can I render without a dedicated GPU?
- Yes, on the processor, but expect renders to take several times longer.
- Does the layered output need another application?
- Only if you want to adjust the passes. The flat render is usable as it comes out.
