Altium Designer

Version 26.9.1.10 · Altium · Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) · ranked #144 in the library

A professional circuit board design environment that keeps the schematic, the board layout and the manufacturing output as one connected project, so a change to the circuit follows through to the copper and the output files.

About this release

Overview

Altium Designer covers the whole path from a circuit idea to the files a board house needs to build it, in one unified project. The schematic, the board layout, the component data and the manufacturing outputs are all connected, so a change made in the schematic pushes through to the layout, and the board that gets manufactured is guaranteed to match the circuit that was designed. That end to end connection is why it is the tool a lot of professional electronics teams standardise on.

The layout side is where the serious work happens. An interactive router with proper length matching and differential pair handling for high speed signals, a rules engine that enforces clearances and constraints as you route rather than flagging them afterwards, a polygon and plane manager for power distribution, and a real time three dimensional view of the board so mechanical fit can be checked against an enclosure before anything is made.

Around the design sit the pieces a professional workflow needs: a component model that carries the schematic symbol, the footprint, the three dimensional body and the supplier and part data together, so a placed component is fully specified. Output generation produces the manufacturing and assembly files as a set, and the design can be released as a controlled, versioned package rather than a loose folder of files.

What it does

Feature breakdown

Unified design project

Schematic, layout, component data and manufacturing output connected as one project, so the built board matches the designed circuit.

Interactive high speed routing

Length matching, differential pairs and a rules engine that enforces constraints while you route rather than after.

Real time 3D board view

See the populated board in three dimensions and check mechanical fit against an enclosure before manufacture.

Complete component model

Symbol, footprint, three dimensional body and supplier data carried together, so a placed part is fully specified.

Power distribution tools

Polygon and plane management for power and ground with proper thermal and clearance handling.

Manufacturing output generation

Produce the fabrication and assembly file set as a controlled, versioned release rather than a loose folder.

Changed in this build

Version 26.9.1.10

  • Faster routing and rules checking on dense high layer count boards.
  • Improved 3D rendering performance on complex assemblies.
  • Better component data handling with the supplier libraries.
  • Refined length matching tools for high speed groups.
  • Output generation reorganised for clearer manufacturing release.

Installation

Follow these in order

  1. Go offline before starting.
  2. Extract the archive to a drive with plenty of headroom.
  3. Disable real time protection.
  4. Run setup as administrator and complete the install.
  5. Apply the included licensing configuration when prompted.
  6. Launch the application, confirm it opens without a licensing prompt, then re-enable protection.
Expect a detection. Anything that changes how a program checks its licence is classified as a risk tool by every scanning engine, which is why the steps ask you to pause protection. If that is not something you want to do, this is not the right download for you.

Release notes

From whoever packed it

  • Block the licensing component's outbound access after install.
  • Component libraries are central to the workflow. Set up your library locations before starting a real project.
  • Projects reference their libraries and outputs by structure. Keep a project's folder together when moving it.

Questions about this release

Answered before you ask

Does the layout stay in sync with the schematic?
Yes, that is the core of it. A schematic change pushes through to the layout so the built board matches.
Is there a 3D view of the board?
Yes, a real time three dimensional view for checking mechanical fit before manufacture.
Does it generate manufacturing files?
Yes, the fabrication and assembly output set is generated as a controlled release.
