About this release

Overview

AnyDesk connects one machine to another and hands you the remote screen, keyboard and mouse. Its whole reputation rests on the protocol underneath, which was written for responsiveness rather than raw image quality, so a session stays usable at frame rates and latencies where a general purpose screen share turns into a slideshow. For supporting a relative's laptop or reaching a workstation from the road, that responsiveness is the entire point.

The program runs without installation. Launch the single executable and it generates an address you give to the person you want to reach, or type theirs to connect out. A full install is offered if you want an unattended machine that accepts connections on its own, with a fixed password and a whitelist of who may connect, which is how a small office keeps a shared machine reachable.

Beyond the screen itself it carries the tools a support session needs: file transfer in both directions, a shared clipboard, remote printing so a document on the far machine prints on yours, a session chat, and a recording option for keeping a record of what was done. Multiple monitors on the remote side are handled, either shown together or switched between.

What it does

Feature breakdown

Low latency remote sessions

A protocol tuned for responsiveness that stays usable on slow and high latency links where heavier tools become unworkable.

Portable and installed modes

Run the single executable with no installation, or install it as an unattended host that accepts connections on its own.

File transfer and shared clipboard

Move files in both directions during a session and copy and paste text between the two machines.

Unattended access control

Fixed passwords, an access whitelist and permission profiles so a shared machine is reachable without someone sitting at it.

Remote printing

Send a document on the remote machine to a printer attached to the machine you are sitting at.

Multi-monitor handling

See every display on the remote side, shown together or switched individually, with resolution matching.

Changed in this build

Version 9.7.14

  • Reduced session latency on high packet loss connections.
  • Improved multi-monitor detection when the remote layout changes mid-session.
  • Faster file transfer on large batches of small files.
  • Fixed a rare disconnect when the remote machine changed its display scaling.
  • Refreshed several interface translations.

Installation

Follow these in order

  1. Extract the archive.
  2. Disable real time protection while the licensed component is applied.
  3. Run the executable directly for a one-off session, or run the installer for an unattended host.
  4. If installing, set an access password and a connection whitelist in the security settings.
  5. Confirm the licensed features are present in the about panel.
  6. Re-enable protection and add an exclusion for the installation folder.
Expect a detection. Anything that changes how a program checks its licence is classified as a risk tool by every scanning engine, which is why the steps ask you to pause protection. If that is not something you want to do, this is not the right download for you.

Release notes

From whoever packed it

  • Turn off automatic updates. An update reverts the licensed components to the free tier.
  • The portable build keeps its settings next to the executable, which is convenient on a support stick.
  • For unattended access, set a strong password and restrict who may connect. An open host is a liability.

Questions about this release

Answered before you ask

Does it need installing?
No. The executable runs on its own. Install only if you want a machine that accepts connections unattended.
Can I transfer files during a session?
Yes, in both directions, through a dedicated transfer panel or by dragging between the two machines.
Will it work through a home router?
Yes, connections are brokered without any port forwarding on either end.
