About this release
Overview
Partition Assistant does the disk surgery the built in tools refuse to. It resizes a partition that is running out of room by taking space from a neighbour, moves a partition along the disk, merges two into one, splits one into two, and does all of it without wiping the data in the process. The operations queue up and apply together, some of them from within the running system and the rest after a reboot into its own environment, so a rearrangement that would otherwise mean backing up and reinstalling happens in place.
Migration is the other half of what it is used for. It clones an entire system drive to a larger disk or from a mechanical drive to a solid state one, aligning the partitions correctly for the new medium and adjusting the boot configuration so the machine starts from the clone. That turns a drive upgrade from a day of reinstalling and reconfiguring into an unattended copy, which is the single most common reason people reach for it.
This build is the technician edition with the widest feature set, including the bootable environment. That environment is the part that matters when a machine will not start: written to a USB stick, it boots the tool independently of the installed system so a partition can be repaired, a drive cloned or a boot record rebuilt on a machine that otherwise will not come up. The whole thing is activated so no feature is held back behind an upgrade prompt.

Installation
Follow these in order
- Back up anything irreplaceable before rearranging partitions. These operations are safe but a power cut mid-move is not.
- Extract the archive.
- Disable real time protection, the activation component is flagged.
- Run the installer and complete setup.
- Apply the included activation step so the technician features unlock.
- For the bootable environment, write it to a USB stick from within the tool, then re-enable protection.
Release notes
From whoever packed it
- Do not interrupt a partition move or a clone. A queued operation writing to disk must finish.
- Align partitions to the drive when cloning to a solid state disk. The tool offers this and it matters for speed.
- Keep the bootable stick. It is the version you want when the installed system refuses to start.
