About this release
Overview
AutoCAD Electrical is the base drafting application with a controls engineering toolset built on top. The difference from drawing a schematic in plain AutoCAD is that here the drawing is intelligent. A wire is a wire, not a line. A component carries a manufacturer part number, a catalogue entry and terminal data. Because the drawing understands what it contains, it can number the wires, tag the components and generate its own reports rather than leaving all of that to a spreadsheet kept alongside.
The automation is the reason a control panel shop uses it. Wire numbering and component tagging follow rules across a whole project rather than being typed in by hand. A symbol library of standardised electrical components covers the common standards. Real time error checking catches a duplicated wire number, an unlinked contact or a coil without its contacts before the drawing goes out. Circuit reuse copies a proven ladder into a new project with its numbering reconciled automatically.
Reporting is where the intelligence pays off. Bills of material, wire from-to lists, terminal plans, cable schedules and PLC address reports all generate from the drawing and update when it changes, so the documentation package a panel builder needs is a by-product of drawing the schematic properly rather than a separate job. The PLC tooling maps input and output addresses to a spreadsheet and generates the I/O drawings from it.

Installation
Follow these in order
- Go offline before starting.
- Extract the archive to a drive with plenty of headroom.
- Disable real time protection.
- Run setup as administrator and choose the standards libraries for your region.
- Apply the included licensing configuration when prompted.
- Launch the application, confirm it opens without a licensing prompt, then re-enable protection.

- Set the background licensing service to manual so it does not reach out on startup.
- Project files reference the drawings by path. Keep the project folder together when moving work.
- Custom symbols live in the user library, which should be backed up separately from the install.
