Autodesk AutoCAD Architecture 2027
Version 2027.1 · Autodesk Inc. · Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) · ranked #50 in the library
The drafting package with architectural intelligence built in, where a wall knows it is a wall, a door cuts its own opening, and a schedule updates itself from the objects already drawn.
Read the installation section below before you start. The order of the steps matters on this release.
About this release
Overview
This is the standard drafting application with an architectural object layer on top. Instead of drawing two parallel lines and calling it a wall, you place a wall object with a style, a width, a height and a material composition. Doors and windows placed into it cut their own openings and stay anchored when the wall moves. That single difference removes most of the tedious coordination work that plagues a plain line drawing.
Because the objects carry data, the documentation largely produces itself. Door and window schedules read from the objects in the drawing and update when something changes. Wall tags, room tags and area calculations do the same. Sections and elevations are generated from the model rather than drawn separately, so a change to a plan does not leave three other sheets quietly wrong. The style manager holds the office standards so every project starts consistent.
It remains fully compatible with the plain drawing format, which is the practical reason firms use it. Files open in a standard installation with the architectural objects displayed correctly through the proxy graphics, and consultants who do not have this version can still read, reference and plot the drawings. The full command set, the layout and plotting system and the external reference workflow all behave identically to the base application.
What it does
Feature breakdown
Architectural objects
Walls, doors, windows, stairs, railings, roofs and slabs as intelligent objects with styles, materials and real dimensions rather than as line work.
Automatic openings and anchoring
Doors and windows cut their own openings and stay anchored to the host wall when it moves, lengthens or changes width.
Schedules and tags that update
Door, window, room and area schedules read directly from the drawn objects and stay current when the drawing changes.
Generated sections and elevations
Produce sections and elevations from the model so a plan change propagates rather than leaving other sheets out of date.
Style manager and office standards
Wall types, door types, annotation and dimension styles stored centrally so every project starts from the same standard.
Full base drafting compatibility
The complete standard command set, layouts, plotting, external references and a file format consultants can open without this version installed.
Changed in this build
Version 2027.1
- Faster regeneration on large drawings with several thousand architectural objects.
- Wall cleanup improved at complex intersections where three or more wall types meet.
- Schedule formatting gained per column control over units and rounding.
- Improved display representation handling when a drawing is opened in the base application.
- Updated content libraries for door, window and stair styles.
Installation
Follow these in order
- Disconnect from the network before starting.
- Extract the archive to a drive with at least 20 GB free.
- Disable real time protection completely.
- Run setup as administrator and choose the content libraries and languages you want.
- Apply the licensing step before first launch, following the readme order exactly.
- Start the application, confirm the version in the about dialog, then restore protection.
Release notes
From whoever packed it
- Block the licensing service in your firewall afterwards. An online check reverts the applied state.
- If you are installing several products from the same vendor, install this one last so the shared licensing component settles correctly.
- Set your office standards in the style manager before starting a project or you will be reconciling styles later.
System requirements

| Processor | 2.5 GHz or faster, multicore, higher clock speed matters more than core count here |
| Memory | 16 GB minimum, 32 GB for large project sets |
| Graphics | GPU with 4 GB VRAM and DirectX 12 support |
| Storage | 16 GB of free space, SSD recommended |
Questions about this release
Answered before you ask
- Can consultants open my drawings?
- Yes. The architectural objects display through proxy graphics in a standard installation and the geometry is readable and plottable.
- Is this the same as the modelling package?
- No. This is drafting with architectural objects. Full building information modelling is a separate product.
- Does it include the base application?
- It includes the complete base command set, so a separate standard installation is not required.
