Autodesk AutoCAD LT
Version 2027.1 · Autodesk · Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) · ranked #237 in the library
Two dimensional drafting and detailing in the format the whole industry exchanges drawings in, without the three dimensional modelling and customisation layers most drafting work never touches.

About this release
Overview
AutoCAD LT is the drafting half of AutoCAD. Everything about producing, annotating and issuing two dimensional drawings is here: the full command set, layers, blocks, external references, layouts and viewports, dimensioning and annotation styles, tables, fields, plot styles and sheet set organisation. The file format is the same DWG, so drawings move to and from the full application and to every consultant with no conversion step anywhere.
What it leaves out is the three dimensional modelling, the rendering, and the programming interfaces for custom applications. If your work is plans, sections, details, schematics and drawing issue, none of that is missed. If you need surfaces and solids or you run a shop full of custom routines, the full application is the one you want. The distinction is clean and has been stable for a long time.
The productivity tooling has been quietly good for years. Blocks with dynamic parameters that change size and configuration without separate definitions, annotative objects that scale correctly across viewports at different scales, external references so a shared base plan updates everywhere at once, a compare tool that highlights differences between two revisions, and count for tallying block instances across a drawing. Publishing covers PDF and DWF with layers and searchable text, plus direct plotting to hardware.
What it does
Feature breakdown
Complete two dimensional drafting
The full drawing, editing, annotation and dimensioning command set with the keyboard driven workflow that makes experienced drafting fast.
Native DWG
The industry exchange format read and written without conversion, so drawings move between offices, consultants and the full application unchanged.
Dynamic blocks and external references
Blocks with parameters that adjust geometry without duplicate definitions, and referenced drawings that update everywhere when the source changes.
Layouts, viewports and sheet sets
Multiple layouts per drawing with independently scaled viewports, organised into sheet sets with automatic numbering and batch publishing.
Drawing comparison and counting
Overlay two revisions with the differences highlighted, and count block instances across a drawing with results placed as a table.
Publishing and plotting
Batch publish to PDF or DWF with preserved layers and searchable text, plus plot style tables for controlling line weight and colour on output.
Changed in this build
Version 2027.1
- Faster opening and regeneration of drawings containing many external references.
- Smart blocks gained placement suggestions based on how a block has been used elsewhere in the drawing.
- Markup import improved with better recognition of handwritten revision notes on scanned sheets.
- Sheet set manager rebuilt with a faster interface on sets containing hundreds of sheets.
- PDF export now produces smaller files with the same vector fidelity.
Installation
Follow these in order
- Disconnect from the network before running setup.
- Extract the archive to a folder with several gigabytes free.
- Pause real time protection.
- Run setup as administrator and select your language.
- Apply the included activation before the first launch.
- Open the application, confirm it starts without a licensing prompt, then restore protection.
Release notes
From whoever packed it
- Do not install the desktop licensing service updates afterwards.
- Save drawings to an older DWG version if consultants are on an earlier release, the format changes every few years.
- Custom routines and add-on applications will not load here. That interface is one of the deliberate differences from the full application.
System requirements
Minimum and recommended

|---|---|
| Processor | 2.5 GHz or faster, high single thread performance matters more than core count |
| Memory | 8 GB minimum, 16 GB for large drawing sets |
| Graphics | DirectX 12 capable card with 2 GB VRAM |
| Storage | 10 GB free, SSD recommended |
Questions about this release
Answered before you ask
- Can it open three dimensional drawings?
- It opens and views them but cannot create or edit the solid and surface geometry.
- Is the DWG format identical?
- Yes, byte for byte the same format as the full application writes.
- Do add-ons work?
- No. The programming interfaces are not present in this edition.
