About this release
Overview
Glary Utilities is around forty small maintenance tools grouped into one interface. Individually most of them exist somewhere in Windows already, buried behind a settings page or a command that nobody remembers. Collected in one window with a consistent layout, they turn a maintenance session from an hour of hunting into a few minutes of clicking, which is the entire argument for a suite like this.
The one click maintenance page is the front door. It runs a fixed set of the safer tools in sequence: temporary files, browser caches, broken shortcuts, obvious registry orphans and tracking traces, reporting what it found before it touches anything. Everything it does is reversible from the backup it takes first. The advanced tools sit behind that page for anyone who wants to work through them individually, and they are where the real capability lives.
The individual tools cover the ground properly. The startup manager shows what runs at boot with a delay option rather than only an on and off switch. The uninstall manager removes leftovers that the program's own uninstaller left behind. There are disk tools for analysis, defragmentation, duplicate finding and secure erase, file tools for splitting, encrypting and undeleting, and a set of privacy tools for clearing histories and stored credentials across the installed browsers. The Pro tier in this build adds automatic background maintenance and the full update coverage.
What it does
Feature breakdown
One click maintenance
Runs a fixed sequence of the safe cleanup tools and reports what it found before applying anything, with a backup taken first.
Startup and service manager
Everything that runs at boot in one list with timing information, and a delay option so a slow item starts after the desktop is usable.
Registry cleaner and defragmenter
Finds orphaned entries with an automatic backup before each pass, and compacts the hive to remove the empty space left behind.
Disk tools
Space analysis by folder, duplicate file finding, defragmentation, health checks and secure erase for a drive being passed on.
Privacy cleanup
Clears browsing history, caches, cookies, form data and stored credentials across the installed browsers, with per-site exclusions.
File recovery and file tools
Undelete, secure delete, split and join, and encrypt, grouped so you are not installing four separate small programs.
Changed in this build
Version 6.46.0.50
- Cleanup rules updated for the current browser releases so cache and profile locations are found correctly.
- Faster disk analysis on volumes with several million files.
- Registry cleaner made more conservative around entries belonging to virtualised and store delivered applications.
- Startup manager now shows the publisher and the measured boot impact for each entry.
- Reduced background service memory use during scheduled maintenance.
Installation
Follow these in order
- Close any browser windows so the privacy tools can see the profile folders.
- Extract the archive.
- Disable real time protection for the activation step.
- Run the installer and decline any bundled extras on the optional components screen.
- Apply the included activation step before first launch.
- Open the application, confirm the Pro state in the corner of the window, then re-enable protection.
Release notes
From whoever packed it
- Leave the registry cleaner on its default depth. Aggressive registry cleaning causes far more problems than it solves.
- Check what the one click pass has selected before running it the first time on a machine you care about.
- A portable build is included in the archive for use from a stick without installing anything.

Questions about this release
Answered before you ask
- Is the registry cleaning safe?
- It backs up before every pass and the backup restores from inside the application. Keep it on the default setting and it is unremarkable.
- Will it actually make the machine faster?
- Clearing the startup list and freeing disk space will. Registry cleaning on its own generally will not, whatever the marketing says.
- Does it run in the background?
- Only if you enable automatic maintenance. Turn it off and it does nothing until you open it.
